Importance of study skills Featured

Life in school today is hard - you know this already! It is more important than ever that each student has the right skills to maximise their learning.

Most schools realise this too and teach study skills alongside traditional subjects. Without practice in the correct techniques learning (and particularly learning for examinations) becomes a difficult chore. With knowledge and practice in study skills the same examination revision becomes a simple use of their relevant skills.

Relevant skills include

  • Knowledge of speed reading for knowledge acquisition (SQ3R)
  • Note taking for understanding and revision (mindmapping)
  • Revision planning techniques
  • Exam question preparation and practice

We build these skills into our standard tuition for all science courses at GCSE and A level. At A level where we are also preparing students for further learning at university we add lecture note taking, library research and essay preparation.
